My name is Kees-Jan Band (yes, that really is my name) and I design and build guitars. Music in general, and guitars in particular, are my lifelong passion. I live in Amsterdam – The Netherlands and have a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences.
However, blood is thicker than water. So in 2017 I applied to the Dutch School of Guitarmaking to learn the craft of luthier. When building guitars I still work from the workshop of the Dutch School of Guitarmaking in Heiloo. Although I now know how to build a guitar, I still learn new things with every project.
I only build models designed by myself. For me, the design process is just as satisfying as building the guitar itself. When designing my models, I take a lot of inspiration from prominent luthiers such as Nik Huber, Jens Ritter and Claudio & Claudia Pagelli.
My designs originate from classic elements, and are combined with modern aesthetics for perfect playability and ease of use. Every guitar is handcrafted and all of the materials are carefully selected which contribute to a very unique guitar.
