To avoid unnecessary duplication, I have put the FAQ and Terms & Conditions together because they complement each other.
Upon your confirmation of the order I will send a request for a startup payment of 50% of the total quote. This will mostly cover the material costs.
Once the startup payment is paid, I will build your guitar. Since all KJ Band Guitars are custom unique orders, each guitar is built from scratch based on your choices. Therefore, the startup payment cannot be refunded, if the customer later in the process regrets or rejects the order.
Finally, when the order is complete and your custom guitar is ready to be shipped, you will receive an email with pictures and a pay request for the remaining balance before shipment. When the invoice is paid, the guitar will be on its way to you!
NB: Failure to complete the final payment within 30 days will be considered as a cancellation.
This of course depends very much on what kind of guitar you have ordered. For example, building an archtop guitar is much more labor intensive and takes a lot longer than building a solid body guitar.
It will take a minimum of 4 months to build a guitar from the payment of the deposit until the guitar is ready for dispatch. This is a process that cannot be accelerated, because it takes time to choose the wood, process it, and the process of lacquering takes its time for a perfect coating. Before the guitar is complete, it will receive a very careful adjustment and setup to give the guitar the perfect playability.

Yes. To ensure that the guitar is safe to carry, there is always a standard case with your KJ Band guitar. The standard case is a solid hard case made by Artur Benedykt.
We offer a manufacturer’s 2-year warranty following the original purchase of a KJ Band Guitar. If a component of the guitar has failed due to a factory defect, we will send you a replacement part. The following items are not considered factory defects and are not covered under this warranty: Fret wear, saddle wear, nut wear, strings, shrinking, discoloration, setups, adjustments or routine maintenance, damage due to extreme temperature or humidity, damage resulting from customization or repair, or normal wear and tear on parts, instruments or cases.
If you live inside the EU, we will charge the 21% in VAT, as the law prescribes. However, you should not worry if you live outside the EU region, you do not have to pay VAT in the Netherlands. But, you should be aware that there may be some import charges in your own country.
We use Rosewood in our guitar production, but only in small quantities. All wood varieties are legally acquired. When an order is confirmed, we begin to apply for CITES import documents of the guitar to your country, if necessary. On the application, your full name and address will be given. It is important if you move address in the meantime that we will get it informed and modified on the application as soon as possible, because this might delay the application a bit.
Yes, you can cancel the order and not pay the residual. However, you cannot get your startup payment (50% of the quote) back, because it is used for the purchase of materials, hardware and building the guitar. The startup payment is our economical safety net. Because we build customized instruments to each’s desire, we risk a loss, if we end up with a canceled orderl, that cannot be sold – again.
If you regret the purchase within 14 days of receiving the guitar, the guitar can be returned with a safe, tracked and insured shipment method to us at your own expense. Once the guitar is received in good condition, we will refund 40% of the total cost of the guitar. The shipping costs and startup payment cannot be refunded.
